COSON WANTS OKONJO-IWEALA TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COPYRIGHT BLANK TAPE LEVY SCHEME.

Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has asked the Honourable Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to take personal responsibility to activate the copyright Private Copy Levy scheme, the documents of which are said to be gathering dust in her ministry.
Reading the Nigerian music industry address on the celebration of the annual ‘No Music Day’ on September 1, 2014, at the COSON office in Lagos, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji said, ‘The Nigerian music industry today calls on the Honourable Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to immediately and personally take charge and unshackle the Private Copy Levy Scheme which has remained trapped in the Directorate of Fiscal Policy in her ministry for months. The Private Copy Levy Scheme which for many years has been in operation in many countries around the world, including some in our sub region, is intended to provide badly needed cushion for the stakeholders in the creative industry suffering from the unbridled copying and downloading of creative materials made possible by modern technology’
Continuing, Chief Okoroji said, ‘the Nigerian music industry is aware that the order to activate the Private Copy Levy has since been made by the Attorney-General of the Federation & Minister of Justice, Mr. Muhammed Bello Adoke and published in the Federal Gazette. The Nigerian Copyright Commission has held several public consultations on the levy and the stakeholders have since looked forward to the commencement of the scheme. Unfortunately, for some inexplicable reason, the documents seeking the approval of the Finance Minister to activate the scheme remain trapped in some files in the office of the Director of Fiscal Policy in the Federal Ministry of Finance while the industry meant to benefit from it is suffocating.’
The COSON Chairman also stressed, ‘if the Honourable Minister has any questions on the scheme, we are ready to provide the answers. We believe that within a few minutes, this scheme which will provide some succour not just for the music industry but also for the movie and literary industries should be given an opportunity to make progress.’While commending the government of President Goodluck Jonathan for his interest in providing desperately needed funds for Nigeria’s creative industries so that they can achieve their potentials, he expressed the concern of the music industry that the government may have been made to see Nigeria’s creative industries as beginning and ending with Nollywood saying that it would be a huge mistake.
In the words of the former President of PMAN: ‘Please let us clarify that we fully support any assistance given by the government to our brothers and sisters in the Nigerian movie industry with whom we maintain an excellent relationship and work very closely with for the good of Nigeria. We are simply saying that the very reasons for government intervention in the movie industry apply fully to the Nigerian music sector which is equally making our nation proud across the world.’
Chief Okoroji also called on President Goodluck Jonathan to direct the Bank of Industries (BOI), the Nigerian Export & Import Bank (NEXIM), the Federal Ministry of Trade & Investments and everyone connected with the Growth in Employment in States Fund (GEMS) and the Entertainment Industry Intervention Fund announced by President Jonathan three years ago to do what is necessary to make sure that the funds begin to have real impact on the industry, create the badly needed employment and reduce the restiveness in Nigeria.‘We wish to state that both the Growth in Employment in States Fund (GEMS) and the Entertainment Industry Intervention Fund announced by President Goodluck Jonathan three years ago, which created so much initial buzz, have not been the catalysts they were intended to be’ said Chief Okoroji.
On No Music Day, COSON officials practically enveloped the airwaves in an unprecedented and well co-ordinated campaign against piracy and all forms of copyright infringement.

They Do!: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Got Married Over the Weekend

Getty
It’s the moment we’ve been waiting nearly a decade for—Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married at Chateau Miraval in France over the weekend, a spokesman for the couple reveals!
The former Mr. and Mrs. Smith costars said “I do!” in a small chapel at a private ceremony attended by their close friends and family.
Before exchanging vows in a nondenominational civil ceremony conducted by a French judge, the newlyweds obtained a marriage license in California, it’s been revealed.
Unsurprisingly, the proud parents-of-6 made their big day a family affair and included their entire brood in the reception. Angie and Brad’s oldest children—Maddox and Pax walked their mom down the aisle. Little sisters Zahara and Vivienne threw petals as flower girls, while Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers!
Congrats to the entire family! and we wish them a wonderful marital bliss.

THE THINGS I HATE ABOUT COSON - AZEEZAT QUEENOFLOVE

I hate it when my COSON phone rings. Yes, I have a COSON phone, an around 2k 'palasa' whose shrill sound can wake the dead. The phone was given to me because as a member of a key committee of the Board, the management needs to track me 24/7, so I am always on stand-by.
I have been strategizing on how to tell them to change the phone since, but for where? The thought of saying that to Bernice, COSON's Head of Finance/Admin is enough to keep me quiet and continue to manage the ‘pure water’ phone, even if everyone on the other end continues to say they don't hear me, and then I put it on speaker. My hope is that one day, the GM will get tired of not hearing me and change the phone himself.
Now you have laughed, abi? Laugh all you can. That is what we go through as Directors at Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the million-dollar-declaring Collective Management Organization (CMO) that everybody is talking about. Can you imagine?
That's why I laugh when I read stories about how COSON Directors are building houses everywhere and spending COSON money nyafun-nyafun. It's all so hilarious.
You would have expected COSON to give me at least one android Tekno as an official phone. No be so? But no! That is the kind of organization we run. Very stringent! There are so many protocols to ensure transparency and accountability. You cannot imagine how many people have to sign and counter-sign a voucher before you are refunded N5,000 of the N10,000 you spent doing COSON work. At COSON, every kobo must be counted and accounted for. I hear that some people even think that COSON is spending government money. Which government? Government has never given one penny to COSON. Ask anywhere.
So where was I? Yes, I said I hate my COSON phone ringing. It isn't just because of the shrill sound of the phone, it is also because of the nature of the job: COSON is in a hurry and you can be summoned at any time and given one very tough assignment and you have to do it. Don’t blame me if the stubborn part of me sometimes revolts. These people very well know that they don’t pay me a salary. Shouldn’t I have some time to earn a living?’ I thought I knew the COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji before I became a Director of COSON. Na lie, I did not know him. He is a perfectionist and demands perfection from everybody. He never stops working and thinks that everybody must be a workaholic like him. How I come enter this kind long thing?
I remember being called to pursue the collection of outstanding music copyright royalties at LTV8 (Lagos Television). LTV was like a home to me, if you know what I mean: I was always welcome. There was once that without a couple of hours at Feminar, the joint inside the LTV compound, my day was not done. From the gate o, to the receptionists, presenters/producers, Ogas dem, I was always given a warm welcome at LTV8.
Now it was this same LTV8 that I had to go to and chase the Permanent Secretary(PM) for music royalties. And guess who that PM was, the very admirable Lekan Ogunbanwo! There's more to this story o. The last time I saw Mr Ogunbanwo before the royalties issue, I had gone to appeal to him to grant free venue for a widows event that I was involved in, and he graciously did. So how thicker can this plot get?
Anyways I was sent on an errand, and errand I must go and deliver. First day I went, I was indeed able to look at him in the eyes after some wait and diplomatically ask "where is our money?" He calmly told me to come back the next week. Next week came and I was there but guess what, I was kept waiting for a long time at the reception downstairs, for the first time in my history with LTV. I couldn't believe it. Another one of my treasured goodwill bites the dust, ghen ghen!!
At COSON, there are no half measures. Nothing that can be done today must be postponed till tomorrow. The Chairman insists that the overriding interest at all times must be that of all the members and there must be no secrets in COSON. Everything must be placed on the table and discussed by everyone and known by everyone. Loong thing! So there are countless meetings. Everyone must know where every naira is coming from and where it is going to. I know how long it has taken for us to get something like COSON established and why the organization must be protected but it does become too much.
That's what working as a Director in COSON entails: your long-term built relationships and goodwill suffer, while trying to continuously build a million-dollar organization in which you have to argue over every kobo. But I hear that that's how strong long-lasting conglomerates are built: arguing over every kobo!
At COSON, rules are rules and there are no friends and no foes. I have had to sit at the opposite side of the table and argue vigorously with music/media greats like Baba 'Ke-ke' Kenny Ogungbe of Ray Power, Mr Larry Izamoje who owns Brila FM, Guy Murray Bruce of Silverbird, Senator Mike Ajeigbo who owns Minaj, Engineer Amin Moussali who owns Cool FM and Wazobia FM, Sony Irabor of Inspiration FM. I could give you a looong never-ending list of how I practically grew up in the hands of some of these people!! But when the matter involves COSON, you throw away your personal relationships out of the window.
But don't let me fool you with this image of a long-suffering human being in the service of Naija music homo-sapiens, Naaa. I love it! I love the fact that we have made history. At COSON, we have built the kind of professional organization that people said was impossible in Nigeria. I love to walk into the smart COSON office and see all those graduates working for Nigerian artistes. Because of COSON, everyone is now afraid of trampling on the rights of Nigerian artistes. I love the feeling of making a difference. I love that my opinion counts. I love looking at the faces of those old artistes/society members from the hinterlands, each time we have a COSON AGM and copyright royalties are being paid to thousands of artistes, I ask: Is this Nigeria?

Seeing how COSON works, I now know why PMAN has continued to fail. Boy, I love solving the problems of those old artistes. And I oh-so-love it when they pray for me. I like the feeling that all their prayers for me is in a bank in heaven, waiting for the day I'll need it. *wink*.

SON REVEALED WHY HE KILLED HIS OWN DAD

‘Why I hacked my lawyer father to death’ – Student

Tolani Ajayi, the 21year old Redeemer University student who hacked his father to death on Tuesday July 3rd

he  has finally spoken to reporters about what led him to kill his own dad. Speaking to journalists today at the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, Tolani said he attacked his father, a lawyer and senior advocate of nigerian after he (the father) beat him with a stick, which he said made him very angry and got provoked.
“There is no way Nigerians can help me. I am going to face my judgement. I am meant to pay for what I have done. It is not as if I am ready, it is something that is inevitable – something that is going to happen; I am just waiting for it.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. when the church would have been sleeping by then. It was anger that led me to this. There was an argument between us and I stood up to him. He beat me with a stick and bit me with his teeth repeatedly. Just the two of us were at home; my mother was in Abuja,” he said. Continue…
According to Premium Times, when asked if he was under the influence of any drugs when he attacked his father, Tolani admitted taking drugs but denied he was on drugs on the day of the murder, saying it was more spiritual.

He also said it was not planned. He said his father was the one that first went to the kitchen to get a wooden spoon which he used to hit him. Tolani then went into the kitchen, took a knife and cutlass and attacked his father.

“I tried to defend myself, then he bit me on my shoulder and I got angry. I used normal small kitchen knife then I used a cutlass to attack him. I regret the action,”
“My mother is still grieving. I have sent some people to talk to her that I am sorry. I want to give her time. I have talked to my sister. I have asked for forgiveness,” he said.
Tolani said that his family resides in Abuja while he lived at the Redeemed Church, RCCG, camp.
“My father came for a programme; then, my school was on break so I went to meet him. We were meant to go back to Abuja together then the incident happened and I am here,” he said.
Premium Times reports that Tolani was into drugs and had been caught twice by the authorities of Redeemer University. The school had set up a panel to question him on the alleged drug offence before he killed his father.

SUAREZ BAN IS CORRECT, SAYS NESTA

SUAREZ BAN IS CORRECT, SAYS NESTA

Luis Suarez’s four-month ban by FIFA was the right level of punishment, claims Alessandro Nesta. Suarez, who is appealing against the ruling, bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder during Uruguay’s World Cup victory in Group D.

Nesta, a Sony Team Ambassador at the World Cup, said he believes biting to be worse than spitting. “I used to believe that spitting at another opponent was the worst thing you can do, but biting someone goes beyond,” he said.
“You can think that something is definitely the worst, and then you discover there’s always something worse. I think it’s the right sanction for him.”
Nesta revealed he had also been the victim of a bite during his career. “Yes, during a game in Italy. It was an opposing player, the funniest thing is that we played together previously and we were good friends,” he said.
“But when you’re on the pitch, the adrenaline is pumping and there are no friends any more. I reacted by trying to punch him, luckily the referee didn’t see anything so we both stayed on pitch.”
Nesta added that Italy, sent packing by the Uruguayans, should focus on their younger players. “In my opinion, right now, Italy faces a change between old and young players. It’s not an easy moment for Italian football,” he said.
“We have to look at the younger generation. Marco Verratti is the strongest one we have. Then Alessio Cerci, Lorenzo Insigne, Claudio Marchisio. They are the most talented and they are likely to make a strong contribution in the future. El Shaarawy is another.”

MESSI 4 NEYMAR 4

So, it looks like Messi versus Neymar for the Golden Boot, exactly what the World Cup scriptwriters would have asked for. There were two more for the birthday boy in the 3-2 win against Nigeria to draw him level on four goals at the top of the scorers’ chart with Brazil’s golden child.
Argentina v Bosnia-Herzegovina: Group F - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil In the process Messi, who turned 27 on Tuesday, became the third Argentinian after Gabriel Batistuta and Oreste Corbatta to score in three consecutive World Cup matches, helping steer his country through as Group F winners to a last-16 match against Switzerland.
Runners-up Nigeria, who face France in the next round, took plenty of consolation from the goalscoring feats of youngster Ahmed Musa, who matched Messi with a double of his own. He looks a real handful.
There was a hat-trick for Switzerland’s Xherdan Shaqiri, undoubtedly the architect of their 3-0 win against Honduras in Manaus. “Xherdan Shaqiri is a player who can make the difference because he can decide games on his own,” noted the manager Ottmar Hitzfeld afterwards. Argentina beware.
France went through as Group E winners despite their goalless draw against Ecuador, who were reduced to 10 men after a straight red card for captain Antonio Valencia, of Manchester United.
Bosnia bowed out of their first-ever World Cup with an encouraging 3-1 win against Iran in Salvador, with Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko getting himself on the scoresheet at last.
You Golden Booty . . . the candidates for top scorer at the World Cup
4 – Neymar (Brazil), Messi (Argentina).
3 – Muller (Germany), Van Persie, Robben (both Holland), Benzema (France), E Valencia (Ecuador), Rodriguez (Colombia), Shaqiri (Switzerland).
2 – Cahill (Australia), Mandzukic (Croatia), Suarez (Uruguay), Gervinho (Ivory Coast), Depay (Holland), Perisic (Croatia), Martinez (Colombia), Dempsey (USA), Bony (Ivory Coast), A Ayew (Ghana), Musa (Nigeria).

NEYMAR WILL REACH MESSI'S LEVEL SAYS THIAGO SILVA

Neymar will reach Messi's level, says Thiago Silva

Off course to doubt over that, in the area is success nothing is impossible. Brazil captain Thiago silva says Neymar has what it takes to reach the level of his barcelona team-mate lionel messi and claims the 22-year-old is "growing into a crescendo" at the World Cup.

Brazil face Chile in the last 16 at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte on Saturday and the hosts' hopes will once again rest on the shoulders of Neymar.

Like Messi, the former Santos forward has already netted four goals in the competition and Thiago Silva says the Brazilian is well on the way to matching the Argentina skipper.

"Messi is one of the best strikers in the world, one of the very best players," the Paris Saint-Germain defender told reporters at a press conference ahead of his side's match against Chile. "But Neymar is growing into a crescendo and he will be soon considered one of the best in the world,

"Technically, he has all the skills. Messi is one of the best of all, but I’m sure Neymar will get to that level."

Asked the same question, Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari agreed that Neymar is on the right track to be considered on a par with his Barcelona team-mate.

"Thiago just answered," he said. "Messi is one of the biggest and the best, but Neymar is following in that direction.

"I will only give my opinion [on which player is better] in 10 to 15 years," he revealed, but added: "Neymar doesn’t play to be the best, he plays for Brazil and stands by Brazil because he wants Brazil to be world champions."

LIVERPOOL HOPEFUL; OF HOLDING ON TO STAR STRIKER LUIS SUAREZ AS SPAINISH GIANTS REAL MADRID AND BARCELONA LOOK TO SWOOP

Liverpool remain hopeful that Luis Suarez will stay at Anfield at the start of the season despite the rumblings of intent emanating from Spain.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will both make bids for Suarez this summer but so far none have been received.
Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, who the Catalans are willing to sell, but a part-exchange deal involving Suarez has yet to be discussed.

Barcelona media believe that Uruguay striker Suarez has taken the decision to leave Liverpool this summer and the comments he made following Thursday's defeat of England have given them and Real Madrid encouragement. However, Liverpool have yet to receive any such indication.
Although a figure of £82million has been mentioned, Suarez and his camp say there is no release clause in his latest contract and that indicates it will all be down to how much money either club throw at the project.
Madrid have long been considered favourites but they have a side issue with Karim Benzema's contract talks that could yet have a bearing on the speed of their move for Suarez.

Should Benzema agree terms on a proposed £7m a year deal it is possible they may even postpone a major assault for Suarez until next year.
They are selling Alvaro Morata, and are willing to listen to offers for Angel di Maria, Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao. All have been linked with Liverpool but di Maria and Khedira, particularly, may have more relevance to Chelsea if Madrid continue to push for Carlo Ancelotti favourite Ramires.
Monaco striker Radamel Falcao is also being offered to Madrid which, it is understood, he would prefer despite interest from other clubs.

"I WILL END YOU!": T.I. Curses At Rapper Azealia Banks for Insulting His Wife—Sparking Never-Ending Twitter Rant!

Getty (2)
The feud between T.I. and rapper Azealia Banks has gotten even more ugly and scary!
What started as a jab at T.I.’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, has now turned into a threatened lawsuit.
Banks originally sparked the feud on June 16 by making fun of Harris. “U want no mediocre but…have you seen your wife?” she said and has since deleted.
“No Mediocre” is in reference to the rapper and Iggy Azalea’s new song. Iggy, who is quickly becoming as big as Nicki Minaj, is known to be a rival of Banks.

Banks then sent a series of nasty tweets (among others): “What happens when ur wife has meth mouth? What do u do?...You’ve already been to jail for drugs and guns, your wife can’t read…can you be more of a statistic?”
After T.I. found about the tweets being directed to him he posted an Instagram pic (below) saying:
U musty-mouthed-thot-bot-bad-body-syphilis-lipped-rectum-vomit-unimportant-ugggggly-monstrosity-of-a-maggot-a-- BIIIIIIII---HHHH!!!!!! If u speak ill of my family again….. But, the feud didn’t end there. Banks went on a Twitter rant and even threatened to sue him!
The n---a shouting bad b---hes this bad b---hes that, is almost always at home with some busted bumpkin…But your wife has meth face. And your wife can’t read. I saw you backstage at Kanye and you had nothing to say. I stood next to you ON PURPOSE. To see if you would say something. I’m taller than you in my heels. Come see me n---a. And come by yourself…Guess who’s about to get sued for threatening me!... You’ll be back in Jail soon.
The only message Tiny has shared was a picture on Instagram of a Rihanna-inspired meme saying “I mean damn b***h…Can you ever just worry bout yourself?”

.INSIDE MAGICIAN DAVID COPPERFIELD'S EXCLUSIVE CARIB BEAN RESORT

It's not an illusion! Inside magician David Copperfield's exclusive Caribbean resort, where parrots pick up litter, an outdoor cinema magically appears on the beach... and guests pay £24,000 a night

By JOYCE

David Copperfield's tropical getaway is not just a millionaires' playground and celebrity haven.
While Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Johnny Depp are all rumoured to have spent time on the lush property in the Bahamas where Penelope Cruz married Javier Bardem, it is also available to rent... at a cool £24,000 a night.
The world's most successful magician has a second life in real estate with the chain of 11 Bahamas islands he turned into an exclusive Caribbean resort, which has everything from a giant drive in movie theatre on Coconut Beach to 'The Houdini Room' filled with memorabilia from his hero.

In 2006, the famed magician bought the 150-acre island of Musha Cay and its surrounding chain for a reputed £30 million, and with £25 million and five years of remodeling, made it into his own personal Fantasy Island complete with a staff of 30, with furniture flown in from all over the world - including Harry Houdini's pool table.
All told, the 11 islands comprise 700-acres and are worth upwards of $100 million (£60million), and Copperfield describes his resort as 'the most magical vacation destination in the world.
It's been widely reported that Copperfield found the main island after apparently drawing criss-crossing lines between Easter Island and Stonehenge, and the Pyramid of Giza and the Pyramid of the Sun in the Yucatan, and determining the exact spot at which the two intersected.
Daily rates for 2014 are £24,000 for up to 12 guests with each additional guest up to 24 (resort capacity) charged an extra £900, which includes all meals and drinks such as fine wines and champagnes.
Select extras range from spectacular fire work events (£15,000) and a multi-island treasure hunt created, written and scored by David Copperfield and his creative team.

The treasure hunt takes guests across Musha Cay and the Islands of Copperfield Bay covering 700 tropical acres. Winners and all participants receive gifts and every hunt has graphics including treasure maps personalised and handmade specifically for the event. (£15,000 for up to 24 guests)
Copperfield named his wild mini-archipelago in the Bahamas the Islands of Copperfield Bay and they are also reputed to have a fountain of youth, a secret underground city, and a treasure hunt bearing pirate booty.

'The island experience is the creation of every great place I’ve ever been combined with the imagination that I have in my theatre work,' he told Forbes Magazine recently.
Copperfield has described Musha as his most important project to date - presumably not including the birth of his daughter Sky four years ago and his engagement to long-term partner Chloe Gosselin.

Apparently the magician oversees even the tiniest of details, from selecting the board games made available for guests to designing the users' manuals for phones and items of technology.
'Because of my work I have the privilege of living in extraordinary places around the world,' he says. 'I wanted to recreate the details of those experiences here - from the water pressure in the shower to the thread count in the towels.'
‘The island experience is the creation of every great place I’ve ever been combined with the imagination that I have in my theatre work,’ Copperfield said in a recent Forbes interview. ‘People on the cover of your magazine come there a lot.’
The resort counts among its staff a crew of macaws which are specially trained to clean debris from the beach.

For travelers, Africa has it all: iconic wildlife, epic landscapes, ancient wonders, and an incredible variety of cultures that have intrigued intrepid adventurers for centuries! However, this vast and beautiful continent also has it's sweet side, and it's a perfect place for newlyweds looking to experience the ultimate romantic getaway. To help out, we've looked at the photos and recommendations of real travelers at minube.net to find the most stellar honeymoon ideas for couples looking to explore this most diverse of continents. From a candle-lit desert oasis to a dreamy tropical archipelago, here are the 10 best honeymoon destinations in Africa.

Tofo, Mozambique - While the gorgeous coastal nation of Mozambique might not be everyone's first thought for a honeymoon, the sleepy town of Tofo really does have all the ingredients for a perfect trip. Nestled on a tranquil bay looking out over the Indian Ocean, Tofo is a colonial-era fishing village where the pace of life is syrupy slow and the ocean air is filled with the scent of fresh grilled lobster. It also happens to be the world's premier destination for  swinming with whale sharks and manta rays

Douz, Tunisia - The golden dunes and unparalleled night skies of the Tunisian desert also make for a surprisingly romantic honeymoon. Those planning a trip should consider starting their Tunisia experience at Yadis Ksar Ghilane (pictured above), a desert encampment which combines the romantic setting of a palm-lined desert oasis with the comforts of luxury desert tents. Douz, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Sahara," is also a popular launching point for excursions to the  Jebil national park as well as off-roading trips to the Sahara. Masai Mara National Park, Kenya - Honeymooners looking for a more adventurous getaway would do good to consider a multi-day route through Kenya's Masai Mara National Park. The Masai Mara, one of Kenya's most popular parks, is home to a stunning variety of animals including the famous "Big 5" of the African grasslands and serves as the backdrop to the world's most awe-inspiring animal migration Beyond the wildlife and unique local culture, couples can also reserve stays at some of the more luxurious bush camps and spend their evenings sipping gin & tonics riverside or taking an al-fresco shower while the sun sets over the countryside. Praslin Island, Seychelles - The Seychelles Islands are a growing African contender on a resort tourism scene traditionally dominated by the South Pacific and the Caribbean. The Seychelles offer the lush vegetation and exotic beaches of any tropical archipelago, but really takes things to another level on Praslin Island; Praslin is a lesser-populated island that's home to incredible and virtually untouched beaches like Gran Ansé as well as the vallee' de Mai Nature Reserve , a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's home to such an incredible variety of plant and animal life that one 19th-century general named it the real-life Garden of Eden. Zanzibar, Tanzania - Few African destinations have the coastal or historical appeal of Zanzibar, a white-sand archipelago off the coast of Tanzania whose historic district of  STONE TOWN is one of East Africa's few remaining ancient cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Curious couples should consider heading to Nungwi, a quiet touristy village on the northern tip of Unguja Island where they can spend their post-nuptial days relaxing next to the turquoise waters, cruising through vibrant mangroves, and exploring the delightful "ghost islands" that appear during low tide. Great Rift Valley, Kenya - The area surrounding Lake Naivasha in Kenya's Great Rift Valley is one of the most spectacular in the country in terms of natural abundance. It's also full of charming colonial-style country hotels where mother nature is literally at your door step. The region is home to hundreds of bird species (especially flamingos) and is an ideal starting point to explore attractions like hell's gate national park a otherworldly terrain of cliffs and volcanoes, as well as the giraffes and zebras of Crater Lake Game Sanctuary. Belo Sur Mer, Madagascar - Madagascar's unique wildlife seems to have earned it a spot in our collective imagination, and there's no better or more romantic introduction to the island than Belo Sur Mer, a quiet fishing village on Madagascar's western coast. Peace and quiet are the order of the day in isolated Belo Sur Mer, so you'll have to plan day-trips to get out and explore the island's parks, but there's no better way to end the day than a long solitary stroll on one of Madagascar's gorgeous beaches and a dinner of fresh local seafood. Royal Livingstone Hotel, Zambia - One minube user put it clearly: "It is one of the most romantic places in the world." Located on the banks of the Zambezi River only a stone's throw from the epic Victoria Falls and chobe national park the Royal Livingston Hotel is one of Africa's most revered hotels both for its unbeatable location and almost magical atmosphere of enchanting architecture, riverside cafes, and curious local wildlife. 2013-12-09-BijagosArchielagoVincenzoTessarin.jpg
Bissagos Archipelago, Guinea-Bissau - The islands that make up this archipelago and  UNESCO BIOSPHERE RESERVE  are perfect for newlyweds looking to really have some privacy. Only 20 of the archipelago's 88 islands are populated, which leaves plenty of untouched white-sand islands to explore; and given that international tourism has yet to penetrate deep into the Bissagos, you'll be able to find plenty of romantic beach-side cabins and oceanfront restaurants without having to pay a bundle in return. 2013-12-09-CapeWinelandsMacgreg.jpg
Cape Winelands, South Africa - Rather than Tuscany or Napa, why not opt for the rugged mountains and rolling vineyards of South Africa's Cape Winelands for your honeymoon? The green valleys that make up the Winelands are wedged between scenic peaks and dotted by historic wineries and estates dating back to the time of the Huguenots. Here, you can leisurely explore the country's most charming historical wineries, sample some of the cellars' best vintages, and experience life in one of the world's premier wine regions.
